In order for Pitt Space to address the critical needs of the US space community in terms of education and training for workforce development, as well as basic and applied research, partnerships of various kinds are vital across and beyond campus. For a breakdown of faculty contributors on campus, please see the People page.
On February 1, 2024, Pitt joined the Keystone Space Collaborative to help amplify the activities of Pitt Space and support the regional space community. As self-described, KSC "is a nonprofit organization with a mission to support and serve the growing space industry in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, and to attract and expand the next generation of space industry businesses and talent in the Tri-State region." The SHREC team in Pitt Space supported the annual KSC conference last October in Pittsburgh with a booth, and Pitt Space plans to do so again for the next conference this October.
Pitt Space is excited to be contributing to workforce and economic development in our region and across the nation. In our neighborhood, we are providing world-class research and graduates in space engineering, biomedicine, and science to multiple organizations in Southwestern Pennsylvania and helping them to meet the growing needs of the U.S. space community.
Space research and education across our campus is supported by a broad range of funding agencies, companies, and institutes, and enhanced with a set of peer university collaborators. Below is an inaugural list of these organizations involved with Pitt on space engineering, biomedicine, and science.
