Paul Leu

Dr. Paul W. Leu is a Professor and B.P. America Faculty Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley before joining Pitt as faculty in 2010. His work has been recognized with awards such as the Oak Ridge Associated Universities Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award and the NSF CAREER Award. He leads the Laboratory for Advanced Materials at Pittsburgh (LAMP) (http://lamp.pitt.edu). Dr. Leu also serves as Co-director of the Center for Materials Data Science and Reliability (MDS-Rely; http://mds-rely.org), an NSF Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) run in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University. The center currently has seven industry members and is planning to expand with Carnegie Mellon University and three additional member companies. Dr. Leu's research interests include the use of advanced materials for space applications, with a particular interest in engineering materials to withstand the extreme conditions encountered in space.
