In relation to space, we are interested in the following. 1) It is known that the brain, heart and lung are physiologically and molecularity connected to each other. The goal here is to understand the effects of microgravity on this organ axis and how that could potentially accelerate/decelerate disease progression. 2) Increasing evidence suggests that cells mature and regenerate faster under microgravity. We aim to understand the rewiring of molecular networks under microgravity during cell regeneration and identify key master regulators. Once we understand the biology behind these topics, we will transfer that knowledge to terrestrial applications for clinical translation purposes.
